Who is Mat Kilau? Check this out http://ms.wikipedia.org/wiki/mat_kilau.
Mat Kilau the malay warrior who fight the British in the 60′s . The so called “Kubu Mat Kilau” or fort of Mat Kilau was found in the Pasir Raja area. The govt tried to promote the place for tourist purposes but no history was written there for people to know what’s all about. 00 has been there many times and almost fully recce the whole place. We find it interesting to share with club members since we are around the area. There’s more to explore if we have the time. The track entering to Mat Kilau was in good condition, only the 3 km towards the fort was really overgrown and a washout where the cement culvert have broken. We did not give up and oo decided to built a log bridge so that others also could go visit the fort. Late last year- the culvert is still in position only the soil was washed away until now nothing have been done. So dunno what they want to promote expecting people to go all the way and turn back. Even the Chengai Tree was at one time a big promotion and now nobody cares.

Dear Fellow World Explorers,
We trust this email finds you all well and your passion for travel burning brightly.
Despite all our efforts to fight the tough economic times we are currently in, there has been a lack of participants signing up for the Central America and Mexican expedition. With this reality we at 4×4 World Explorer Sdn Bhd have made a bold decision to proceed with the expedition but postpone it to start on 8th November 2009.
We have also decided to create 3 sectors from the original schedule:
1)CENTRAL AMERICA DISCOVERY – Visit the countries of Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala from San Jose to Guatemala City.
2)MAYAN & AZTEC WORLD – Visit the countries of Guatemala, Belize, Mexico from Guatemala City to Mexico City
3)BAJA CALIFORNIA ADVENTURE – Visiting countries of Mexico and USA from Mexico City to Los Angeles
Each sector will be 15 days long but there are options of doing more then one sector consecutively or doing all 3 sectors.
Having researched and recce’d these locations we promise that at the end of this year we will have in store for you the most amazing, inspiring, active and thought provoking adventures sectors of the America’s to date! Having lunch on active volcanoes, standing at the heart of a Mayan calendar sites which predicts 2012 as the end of the world as we know it, seeing ancient football pitches where in those days the losing team’s manager would be executed right after the match, having a calm cup of tea in a boutique area of the most populated city in the world, whale watching, off road routes to prehistoric cave painting sites, to name but a few.
We hope that you understand the situation and see this and an opportunity to prepare for some unforgettable future exploration of this wonderfully diverse and interesting planet.

The Land Rover
by admin on Mar.22, 2009, under General, Land Rover
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Land Rover is an all-terrain vehicle and Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV) manufacturer, based in Solihull, West Midlands, England, now operated as part of the Jaguar Land Rover business owned by Tata Motors of India.
Originally the term Land Rover referred to one specific vehicle (see Land Rover Series), a pioneering civilian all-terrain utility vehicle launched on 30 April 1948, at the Amsterdam Motor Show, but was later used as a brand for several distinct models, all capable of four-wheel drive.
Starting out as a model in the Rover Company’s product range, the Land Rover brand developed, first as a marque, then as a separate company, developing a range of four-wheel drive capable vehicles under a succession of owners, including British Leyland, British Aerospace and BMW. In 2000, the company was sold by BMW to the Ford Motor Company, becoming part of their Premier Automotive Group. In June 2008, Ford sold its Jaguar and Land Rover operations to Tata Motors.
Land Rover is one of the longest surviving Four-wheel drive (4WD) brands, coming in close second to Jeep.

Why no X-Men in RFC`08 ? by Tom McGuigan 27/02/2009

An open letter to the RFC secretariat and the X-Men (born out of LROM) …
Why no X-Men in RFC`08? I pose this thorny question as in my opinion the Rainforest Challenge of Malaysia (RFC) would never have survived all these years were it not for LROM – Vicky, Alyna, Atek, Char and all the rest over the years. And even if it did survive, it just wouldn’t have been the same. During my six RFC events, the times that you came to the rescue, not just with a winch, but with comfort. When we (the Media) were feeling low, there you were with smiles, noodles and a bottle of whisky to share, even if it was your last. Truly excellent!
The camaraderie and hospitality I can readily understand as we are all off-roaders, so no matter what part of the world we find ourselves in, there will always be a welcome. No, what I am talking about is caring and sharing, something that Asian people are very good at – Alyna and her crew in particular.
