The inaugural Adventure Show Asia 2009 had its soft launch at the Mid Valley Exhibition Centre in Kuala Lumpur last Tuesday.

Organised by Able Two Events Sdn Bhd, the actual event, also to be held at the Mid Valley Exhibition Centre from October 9 to 11, will promote a wide range of adventure sports tourism, travel and outdoor activities.

Its director, Farouk Nurish, said that the event will promote destinations in Asia that appeal to extreme sports enthusiasts, thrill seeking tourists and adventure seekers.

“Malaysia has a lot to offer in terms of adventure sports tourism. We have a variety of natural terrain that is ideal for such sports and activities,” he said.

The exposition will feature a variety of adventure sports and travel providers as well as equipment distributors.

It is highlighted in four pavilions – the Aquatic, On-Land, Sky and Travel.

This will be a platform for off-road equipment suppliers and event organisers to create awareness on what they have to offer.

Touted as a one-stop centre for all types of adventure, it provides visitors with an opportunity to explore interests that may have been otherwise out of reach or unheard of.

At the soft launch, the organisers were presented with the logos of some of the sponsors for the exposition and the climbing competition.

The sponsors include Kinderdijk Sdn Bhd (distributor of the Crocs brand of footwear), Swatch Group (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (the official time keeper), Climbing & Outdoor Recreation Equipment Sdn Bhd (owner of the Corezone retail store), Jungle Expeditions & Explorer (sponsor of the 4X4 off-road segment) and Team Delta Rovers Malaysia Sdn Bhd.

Registration for exhibitors is open until August  7.
